Sleepy Hollow Blues Club was formed in 1994 by a dedicated group of blues lovers and meets every fourth Sunday in the month except December and January for a top-class blues session. There are frequent social events, featuring a wide variety of local and visiting musicians. Over the past years the club has been fortunate to feature The Detonators, Mojo Webb, Andrew Winton, Fiona Boyes, Anni Piper, Darren Jack Band, Joe Galea Band, Ray Vanderby & The Raynettes, Jeff Lang, The Mutley Band, Rory Ellis, Jump Devils, Wolf Gang, Lil’ Fi – and to mention some of our locals, Ball & Chain, Stringybark McDowell, Grizzly Bros, Lounge Lizards, Wayne Jury, Chubby Rae & The Elevators and Dave Steel & Welcome Wagon.
Bluestone New Years Eve Festival
The Bluestone Festival, held every New Year’s Eve, is the highlight of the club’s activities, with attendances of up to 700, as blues lovers and their families from the Geelong district and all over the country flock to enjoy two days of great music, friendship and dancing. Most people camp overnight, and the well-stocked bar, hot and cold food, stalls and merchandise ensure that everyone is catered for. The club is associated with other blues clubs around Australia, including the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society and the South Australian Blues Society, and members are welcome at other clubs’ functions.
